NCCHSM Mission Statement
The National Campaign to Control HypertensionSM (NCCHSM) is an educational initiative sponsored by Professional Postgraduate Services® (PPS®) for primary-care physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals who treat patients with hypertension. Established in 2005, the principal objective of the NCCH is to advance the clinician's awareness of the importance of preventing, diagnosing, and treating high blood pressure and its associated conditions, including diabetes, heart failure, myocardial infarction, and kidney disease. Through the NCCH, PPS delivers programs and products designed to help healthcare providers optimize management of patients with hypertension across these populations.
Through the NCCH initiative's live, interactive programs, dedicated website (www.controlhypertension.org), print materials, and other tools, clinicians are provided with educational opportunities to enhance their knowledge of hypertension and its role in global-risk assessment and reduction. By presenting the most current data via avenues that provoke evocative discussion and case-based patient perspectives—through the NCCH—PPS offers healthcare providers a thorough, balanced, and realistic curriculum that can be of immediate assistance in clinical practice.
A critical part of the NCCH educational message includes the importance of early detection of elevated diastolic and systolic readings and the immediate utilization of aggressive treatment strategies. Effective lowering of stage 1 hypertension has been shown to decrease morbidity and mortality from coronary heart disease and kidney failure as well as to prevent or delay the onset of diabetes. Both lifestyle modifications and pharmacologic therapies have proven successful in effectively lowering blood pressure and thus improving global outcomes.
PPS welcomes your feedback regarding the National Campaign to Control Hypertension. By giving us your clinical perspectives and raising issues that surface in your daily practice, you will be providing valuable information that may help us in our development of future educational programs.
